Alicia Mize Rix, DMD

Dr. Rix is a native of Rome, Georgia. She grew up in the Shannon area and graduated in 1983 from Model High School. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Sciences, cum laude, from Shorter College in 1987. She earned her DMD degree from the Medical College of Georgia in 1991 and her certificate in Pediatric Dentistry in 1993 after completing a two year residency program in Pediatric Dentistry at MCG Hospital and Clinics. She began her practice in Rome in July 1993.
Dr. Rix has been happily married to John Rix since 1992. They have two children, Anna Kate and Sam. Faith and family are the most important things in her life. She is active at First Presbyterian Church of Rome where she teaches Sunday School. Dr. Rix enjoys reading Christian fiction, working on projects in her yard, cooking, and listening to relaxing music. Dr. Rix and her family love to travel, and they are working toward visiting all fifty states.
Dr. Rix is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, the Georgia Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, and the Georgia Dental Association.
Leigh Howell Weldon, DMD

Dr. Leigh Howell Weldon grew up in Rome and was the 2001 Model High School salutatorian. She graduated Cum Laude from the University of Georgia in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She earned her Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the Medical College of Georgia in 2009, where she was named to the Alpha Upsilon Phi Service and Leadership honor society. Dr. Weldon was blessed with opportunities during dental school to serve as a dental provider on mission trips to both Bulgaria and Trinidad, allowing her to discover her passion for working with children.
She obtained her specialty certificate in Pediatric Dentistry in 2011 after completing a two year residency program in the hospitals and clinics of MCG (now Georgia Regents University) and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. During her second year, she was elected by faculty to serve as chief resident. She spent the year following the completion of her residency working with the craniofacial team at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite, focusing on treatment of children with special healthcare needs. She joined Rix Pediatric Dentistry in August 2012.
In 2013 Dr. Weldon completed the voluntary written and oral clinical examination process to become certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Weldon is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, the Georgia Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, and the American Dental Association.
Dr. Weldon is married to Ryan Weldon, also a dentist in Rome, and they have two young sons, Sim and Winn. They are members of First Baptist Church of Rome. Dr. Weldon also serves on the executive board of the Junior Service League of Rome. She enjoys spending time with family, working out at Pro Performance, reading (preferably from a beach chair!), and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs!
